2008 Plowbuster Pinot Noir
10/5/2010 - ChefR0b wrote: 87 Points
Drinks well. Refined, but not overly complex.
Very earthy.
Thin red fruit flavor - strawberry, cranberry, cherry - wish they were bolder.
Nose is bland.
Minimal oak.
Dry on the palate.
Apparent alcohol.
Not outstanding, but certainly no where near the worst. 86 is the minimum score that I would give this wine.
Will gain complexity in the years to come.

2007 Domaine Carneros Pinot Noir Carneros

The tannins in this wine are perfectly balanced with ripe red fruits, chai tea and a sturdy, but not overpowering backbone of white oak. When tasted side-by-side with a cheaper Pinot Noir, you'll notice the sophistication and complexity of Domaine Carneros. Though I have to say the mouthfeel was a bit thin. Definitely not round and fat. I would gladly pay $17-$20 for this wine again, but not the $25 I paid originally. Served near 60 F.

2008 Trefethen Dry Riesling

The Good - 1) Bottle is under $20. 2) The first sip is nice. 3) Plenty of stone fruit flavor.
The Bad - 1) Bitter, off-putting finish. 2) Not as dry as I would like. 3) Can find better for the same price.
