This Brunello is dynamite. Expansive aromas of black cherry leather, tobacco, underbrush, almond cake, and bitter, rooty aromas. On the palate you'll find sweet fruit and a round, plump mouthfeel. There's really nothing more you could want for less than $60. This may well be the Brunello Riserva buy of the year in 2015. Totally scrumptious and satisfying, hard to keep my paws off the rest of the bottle.

Fascinating wine. Color, cork, and aroma would indicate a wine that is only 10 years old, not 17. On opening, there's a pronounced menthol / camphor aroma. Red cherry and red plum flesh. eucalyptus and brett. A lean profile and medium+ acidity tracks with the reputation of Stony Hill. Cool wine but more of a curiosity than a profundity. Ultimately this did not pass the test that goes, "Is this the only bottle I want to drink tonight?" Yeah, no.

Gorgeous showing tonight - this wine is absolutely at peak, still fresh and fruit-driven, with notes of raspberry liqueur, black cherry, fennel, balsam, and cocoa. It has such a seamless, silky texture, great purity, and a little touch of RS. Totally elegant and self-possessed CDP, one of the best I have tasted in a long time, (including the 2019 and 2020 Senechaux.) This bottle I acquired from Benchmark must have been very well-kept.
