Past its prime when opened. Came off a bit "funky" at first until it had some time in the glass. Settled down a bit and revealed some of its fruit, but there were definite predominant tertiary notes (worn leather, musk, some wet earth). Interesting, though not exactly entirely pleasing. It did, however, go very well with our steak - the strong, (over?)developed flavors married well with the heartiness of the meat.

Columbia's wines certainly went downhill after Gallo purchased the winery. Unfortunate. However, for less than $13 (wine club price), this was okay for a Monday night bottle -- though certainly nothing dazzling or, for that matter, anywhere near their historic quality.

Amazing as usual; although we like the 2010 more, "Soter Pop" never fails to please.
