30 minute decant. Deep, inky-plum core with violet-rose meniscus. Heady, lifted nose of crushed violet, eucalyptus/menthe, licorice, bay leaf, minor notes of black pepper, cassis and vanilla. Cranberry-blackberry-cassis, black licorice and tobacco/tar palate. Medium+ to long finish, nicely balanced overall and very agreeable mouthfeel.

PnP. Deep, sanguine-plum core, fully opaque. Violet-rose-clear meniscus. Floral nose of crushed violets, pronounced whiffs of menthe, licorice and tobacco box. Tart strawberry-cranberry, vanilla-oak, black licorice, bitter radicchio and orange oil palate. Vanilla seems to blow off after a while rendering a more balanced profile, but initial impression was slightly too heavy on sweet oak. Medium+ finish. Low-moderate tannins; mouthfeel is closer to juicy than grippy. Still, this is plenty lean and powerful; not flabby at all. At drinking age now but enough structure to last a few more years with proper storage.
