Under a wax sealed natural cork. Pnp. The colour of pale fake movie wine. You know, light red, like Kool-Aid that you can see through? Maybe this is what they actually use?! Cool, fresh nose of cranberry, red meat, rhubarb and a touch of lanolin. Interesting. Strange mix of aromas. Medium bodied, good acidity, slightly astringent, slightly stalky fruits on the palate. Even a bit of tea like tannins. Feels a bit thin on the palate. Maybe this needs to be served only slightly chilled. Flavours of rhubarb, herb bread, fennel bulb and bark. Medium long, dry finish. Certainly Interesting but I'm not sure it works for me.

Under natural cork. Pnp. Deep black cherry colour. Nice, deeply fruited nose of dark black and purple fruits, bumbleberry, cocoa nibs, sous bois, dark minerals and blue suede on the nose. Medium-full bodied, high smooth tannins, bug fruit extract, good acidity and enough alcohol to balance it all out. The palate closely follows the nose. Lots of dark bumbleberry fruit, semi-sweet chocolate, sous bois, suede and chalky minerals. Finishes long, dry and with some tannic astringency. Not overly complex but pretty nice!

Sealed under a natural cork that was short yet good quality. Medium deep, full garnet red. Decanted off some sediment. Lifted nose initially all VA and sour red cherry. After a while some of the VA settled down bit still lingered and, together with the sour red cherry, came notes of worn leather, red licorice, and even a touch of graphite minerality. Intriguing! Medium bodied, quite tart and tangy along the red fruit spectrum, no tannins, decent alcohol (13%) and a nice sweet-sour finish. The blend of crunchy / tart / sour / dried red berry fruit on the palate seemed to play off the VA in a not bad way. Also some stalky, earthy, leathery notes. I don't mind the VA at all and think it adds some complexity. Very pleasant and surprisingly drinkable! I'm going 86 points on this one.
