  • 2015 Dr. Loosen Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese

From a 375 ml. Light pale golden yellow in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of sweet peaches, apricot & lemon peel with overtones of floral & spice notes, honey, stony, minerals & a hint of petrol in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth texture, zesty, ripe fruit flavors of stone fruits of yellow peaches, nectarines & citrus notes, a bit of honey, spices & minerals. Very good balance between the sweetness & acidity. Lingering crisp finish. Drinks quite well at present & even at 9 years of age, it still has the potential to develop further with additional aging. [A.P. Nr. 2 576 162 3816; Alc. 8%].

Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present but should develop further with additional aging.

  • 2019 G.D. Vajra Barolo Ravera

Medium ruby red in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & cranberries with overtones of floral notes of roses, earthy/dusty notes, minerals, orange peel, mushrooms, spices, anise, herbs, tar & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, intense, ripe fruit flavors of sour cherries, strawberries & cranberries with herbs, minerals & spices. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with much needed additional aging at which time, I anticipate it will merit a higher score (95+). An outstanding Barolo with a long life ahead of it & perhaps one of the best 2019 Barolos I have had to date. A definite "must buy" for any serious Barolo fan.

2/28/2023 7:52:00 PM - I'm just reading this for the first time. SRH sent me many messages over the years, and also saw him many times at Vintage Wines. I'm absolutely shocked to hear he is gone. A real class act who I, for one, will greatly miss. Rest in peace.

9/30/2022 1:45:00 PM - So sad to hear this. I lived in SD most of my life and used to see him at Vintage Wines. I’ve known John Lindsay for many years.

6/13/2022 9:17:00 PM - It is with deep regret that I was informed SRH, a frequent commentator here & a good friend, has recently passed away. Stanley, my dearest friend, we will all miss you very much!
