My mother lives in an apartment building on the 10th floor on the banks of the Rhine and you can see the Rhine meandering in the landscape. I believe I can't send pictures here? San Francisco is nice too! It is probably one of my favourite cities in the US with a much more European atmosphere than most others.

And then I was struck by seeing "Arnhem" -- many years ago, my family lived on the Arnhem side of Ooosterbeek (at the bend in the curve on Schelemseweg) and from my upstairs bedroom I could look out over fields and see barges on the river.
