My first bottle tasted of 6 bought. Beginning to reach its maturity plateau but not there yet. Dark cherry and smoky notes, palate smoother than I expected, very long. One drinker in our group said that it tasted velvety but others would wait 2 to 5 years. A great food wine though showing how this bit of Tuscany is great for Bordeaux or red Loire-grapes. Plenty of ripeness evident.

I found this far from deserving a 90+ rating. Though reasonably complex, there was an underlying harshness which I don't think will go away in time though I have two more bottles of this and several of Monteti's Caburnio (from 2014) which I will now put on hold for at least 3 years. There is fruit and some attractive grassy note which I associate with Cab Franc on the front palate but the mid palate and finish produces that harsh note. Let's hope it goes with time.

Absolutely perfect now.All roughness gone. An elegant wine, medium body, with complex cherry like nose and palate with perhaps something licorice underlying. Very long. Because the tannins have become really calm, it was surprisingly perfect with a dim sum lunch which involved a wide range of flavours including fish And mild chili heat.
