2021 Buchegger Riesling 1ÖTW Reserve Moosburgerin

Wonderful Kremstal Riesling grown on the loess-limestone soils of the small terraced ‘Moosburgerin’ vineyard (located in the village of Gedersdorf, about eight kilometers north-east of the city of Krems an der Donau). Maturation: the wine was aged on its fine lees for eight months. Color: beautiful pale green-yellow with silver reflections. Bouquet: truly inviting nose with notes of peach, apricot, meadow flowers and a hint of orange zest and flint. On the palate: a complex but extremely refined and well-balanced wine dominated by succulent citrus- and yellow stone fruit, with an impressive depth and a brilliant structure that is supported by a ripe but racy acidity. Finish: magnificent mineral aftertaste. An outstanding Riesling wine, already highly enjoyable now but also with an excellent aging potential.
Prachtige Riesling uit het Kremstal, geteeld op de löss-kalksteen bodems van de kleine geterrasseerde 'Moosburgerin' wijngaard (gelegen in het dorp Gedersdorf, ongeveer acht kilometer ten noordoosten van de stad Krems an der Donau). Rijping: acht maanden ‘sur lie’. Kleur: mooi bleek groengeel met zilveren schakeringen. Bouquet: verleidelijke neus met aroma’s van perzik, abrikoos, weidebloemen en ook een vleugje sinaasappelzeste en vuursteen. In de mond: een complexe maar uiterst verfijnde en evenwichtige wijn, gedomineerd door succulent citrus- en geel steenfruit, met een geweldige diepgang en een briljante structuur die wordt geschraagd door een rijpe maar pittige aciditeit. Finale: schitterende minerale afdronk. Een excellente Rieslingwijn, nu al heerlijk op dronk en met een uitstekend bewaarpotentieel.

Expressive Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from the steep gravelly soils around the Mockhof estate (located at an altitude of 500 meters in the Eisack Valley, South Tyrol). Color: pale green-yellow with silver reflections. Nose: convincing bouquet with pronounced aromas of elderberry, peach, grapefruit, dried herbs and a hint of flint. On the palate: a well-balanced medium-bodied wine dominated by lush gooseberry and citrus fruit and supported by a crisp acid structure. Finish: persistent herbaceous aftertaste with an agreeable touch of bitterness. Food pairing: an ideal partner for all kinds of fish and asparagus dishes. Drinking window: now–2026.
Expressieve Sauvignon Blanc, geteeld op de steile kiezelbodems van het wijngoed Mockhof (gelegen op 500 meter hoogte in het Eisacktal, Zuid-Tirol). Kleur: bleek groengeel met zilveren schakeringen. Neus: overtuigend bouquet met uitgesproken aroma's van vlierbes, perzik, pompelmoes, gedroogde kruiden en een vleugje vuursteen. In de mond: een evenwichtige middelkrachtige wijn gedomineerd door weelderig stekelbes- en citrusfruit en geschraagd door een pittige aciditeitsstructuur. Finale: persistente kruidige afdronk met een aangename bittertoets. Food pairing: een ideale partner voor allerlei vis- en aspergegerechten. Optimaal drinkgenot: nu–2026.

2021 Ionis Primitivo Chiave d’Oro Puglia IGT

Approachable, easy to drink but not overly complex Puglia wine (100 percent Primitivo) with a slight touch of residual sugar. Maturation: six months in oak barrels. Color: dark ruby-red with purple edges. Bouquet: nice aromatic nose with scents of ripe cherry fruit, stewed plums, sweet spices and also some notes of cedar wood. On the palate: a medium to full-bodied wine with juicy bramble and strawberry fruit, a smooth texture and really soft tannins. Finish: reasonable aftertaste. Drinking window: now–2026.
Toegankelijke, makkelijk drinkbare maar niet al te complexe Puglia-wijn (100 percent Primitivo) met een zweem van restsuiker. Rijping: zes maanden in eikenhouten vaten. Kleur: donker robijnrood met paarse schakeringen aan de rand van het glas. Bouquet: mooie aromatische neus van rijp kersenfruit, gestoofde pruimen, zachte kruiden en wat nuances van cederhout. In de mond: een vrij volle wijn met sappig bramen- en aardbeifruit, een zachte textuur en zeer milde tannines. Finale: redelijke afdronk. Te drinken: nu–2026.
