Consumed over two days. Very dense, rich, brambly nose: sour cherry, cherry compote, polished wood, and something bitter and brooding like black olive, that does preserve just enough Sangiovese herbaceousness to convey some typicity. Powerful and accessible on the palate, testament to the rather warm year. Good, intense flavour profile, with rich cherry and red fruit, and very taut acidity supporting an impressively broad-shouldered frame. Long finish, with dense balsamic notes. A rather modern Brunello drinking very well at the moment. Not a great deal of complexity, but a muscular, virile, and interesting bottle nonetheless.

Very well put together Chenin Blanc, and one of the best wines in the Sadie Family range. Very racy, mineral, cool-climate Chenin nose: lanolin, acacia honey, white flowers, hint of candied fruit, all framed by a very clean, well-delineated minerality. Aromatic and intense, but bone-dry on the palate. Very taut and restrained style: immense minerality, reminiscent of rain-drenched slate. Very sapid. Dried citrus acidity and a floral note on the long, juicy finish that demands another sip. Great with food. I'm sure this will age very well indeed.

Competent Supertuscan, which has genuine verve and territorial identity. There is, of course, a fleshy nose of ripe damsons, graphite, cedar, sweet tobacco, black pepper, some cherry confiture. On the palate, it's in a very good place now: rich, almost decadent, hedonistic, pulpy. There's plenty of rich damson, a touch fruitcake, cooked red fruit, all framed in a bittersweetness that I often associate with Tuscany. Definitely a herbaceous trace. Some minerality on the finish. Plenty happening here - this isn't the all muscles, no brain school of Supertuscan. It has plenty of character, and is drinking very well at the moment.
