  • 2016 Château Fonroque

From a warmer than textbook cellar. reaching 18°C in Summer. Ruby with purple hue to german pink in thin layers. Pnp, partly decant. From the start medium to intense nose of sweet cherries, blackberries, earthy notes, almonds. On the palate it is tannic, but not unbalanced as its structure is easily balanced by its concentrated fruit. Nice quite long finish. No alcolhol shining trough, though it is light on its feet and not overdone. This is clearly very young and is in need for cellaring for at least 5 more years for those who like there wine less tannic and smooth. Nevertheless it is a fun to drink it at this stage, especially with food. The decant part shows more intensity after approx. 90 minutes. 5/12/17/10. -2035+

  • 2021 Envinate Taganan Parcela Margalagua

Limpid ruby to pink in thin layers. From the start the typical sour cherry fruit with funky animalic notes as aged meat, sauce from roast meat, flowers e. g. chestnut flowers, minerals. With more time spicy and smoky notes as well as tobacco leaf. On the palate it is very smooth with low levels of tannin. The sediment that occured over the last half year is very very fine and the bottle should stand upright for some days before opening. Otherwise the wine is a bit cloudy, but that doesn't influence the taste. High but not unbalanced acidity. For my palate it lacks persistence, length on the palate for a extraordinary score. So for me this is definitely not a three digit wine as for Gutiérrez from the WA. But it is not a 88 point either of course. This is for those who prefer complexity and elegance, nuances over power. A wine that should be consumed on its own and with attention. 5/13/18/10. -2031

  • 2018 Karl Erbes Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese

This is AP #27. No detailed note. Light golden. Complex fruit and mineral scents and flavors. As expected still quite sweet, but a great peasure to drink now anyway. Great bargain. 5/12+/16+/9. -2040+, 92+
