Fresh and fruity, full bodied. Nicely balanced for early drinking, good contrast to my favorite cooler climate Quivet Hulda syrah which is more savory.

Drinking well. Still some grip to the tannins, and the front end has broadened and mellowed, blue and black fruit, olive, earth, game.

Second bottle, this time it went a bit sweet for my taste, though the rest was smooth and enjoyable. Drink now.

11/7/2020 - Thank you for sharing your note on the 2011 C.V.N.E. Rioja Imperial Gran Reserva 2011! Based on the region, producer and bottling, I would not be too concerned about early oxidation. 2011 was a warm vintage and may indeed not be as long lived as e.g. 2010 or 2004, but still the wine should not show signs of decline anytime soon. That said, delicious and balanced as the wine is, depending on personal preference it is definitely not a crime to open a bottle now ;) Cheers!
