3 hour decant then drank over 3 hours. A surprisingly red fruited Napa Cab Franc. Medium body with raspberry notes. Kinda of reminded me of a Spanish Tempranillo. Young, so it evolved somewhat over time. Enjoyable and offers a nice change of pace from the typical higher end Cabernets I usually drink. 90 now with maybe a point or two higher with age. HMC

PNP then drank over 2 hours. Fairly dense, well balanced, delicious modern styled Cab Franc. Opens with a nose of fresh cherries and florals. As it warmed and got air it settled into a beautiful black cherry flavored wine with great acidity and freshness with a slight spicey note.
1 hour decant. Then drank over 2 hours. Ripe and ready right out the gate. Big, balanced classic cab in every way. Luscious mouth feel. Delicious cassis and blackberry fruit. Well integrated round in the mouth tannins. Decent finish. Probably the second-best wine I've had this year. 97+ and peaking. HMC
11/27/2021 2:33:00 AM - Hello HMC - I am referred to you from Mark1npt ... I noted to him that, while the wife and I live in England, we are headed to Naples on December 1st for about 3 months in order to get away from our British winter's chill. While in Naples it would be a pleasure to share a bottle of something decent with like minded oenophiles. As it happened, when I lived in CA back in the 80's I had the pleasure of enjoying some excellent early La Jota cabs - they remain memories to this day. So if you are open to it, I'd love to lift a choice glass with you (and Mark) and hear about your Howell Mountain venture.
3/16/2021 7:36:00 PM - Hi Rocky, The vineyard is doing well. We will be in second leaf this year. Almost 100% of the original vines survived. The vines look pretty good but I'm going to fly out this September and take a look for myself and of course taste a few wines!
3/16/2021 2:30:00 PM - Nice to meet you virtually. We share a love for big but balanced Cabs. How's the vineyard set up on Howell Mountain going? Sounds awesome. Cheers, Rocky
4/21/2020 11:12:00 AM - Have visited them and tried their complete line up a few years ago. As I remember I wasn't blown away by their Cabs and actually bought one of their Pinots. Can't say I've had any of their 16s Sorry.
