It’s possible to like a wine and find it somewhat disappointing. Such is the case here:
The nose started off deep and meaty. In an hour or so it changed to black cherry, raspberry, vanilla, and baking spices. It mostly stayed this way—big and youthful.
The same could not be said for the palate, which came across muddled up front and stunted (perhaps by the oak) on the back palate. Maybe this just needs a little more time to develop—

The wine at present displays a fantastic balance between primary and tertiary qualities. The nose on opening was completely earthy—wet soil, wet leaves, rainy autumn day in the forest, etc. With air, there emerged stewed plums, strawberries, raspberries, and pepper. The palate showed very similar qualities—but with lighter touches of red fruit—with enough tannic grip and depth to indicate this wine still has time at its peak.

Enjoyable, but the bottle I had was past its peak—
This wine has a lot of structure still. And that structure may outlive the fruit—at least that was my impression.
The nose showed sweet cherry and roses with some coaxing—also fresh soil and mushrooms. It improved with air, but seemed to plateau after a few hours, settling with a not-quite-identifiable floral sweetness.
The tannic base seemed to control the palate. Again, there’s some cherry around the edges, but not enough to balance the tannin.

Lovely; at peak
