Bought a couple of bottles at auction, let them sit ~6months, then tried. The first bottle: the cork disintegrated as I was opening it - not a great sign for a bottle <15 years. I filtered, then tasted - completely dead - it just gave nothing. Poured it down the drain. Opened another bottle, this time I used a twin prong cork puller ... the wine is not flawed, color is ok, the nose a bit muted, but there. Just boring. I think that I'll use it to make sangria.... probably a good idea to steer clear, I suspect that there's no upside for these bottles.

8 years after my last tasting of this bottle.... It was well stored in a temperature/humidity controlled cellar. the tannins are fully resolved - plenty of fruit left; mostly currant, cherry, a hint of menthol on the backend - delicious and elegant. Not much structure, nor "ooomph". Definitely on the downslope and not as compelling as 8 years ago - drink up!

popped and poured... clear, light red; the nose opened up after 30 minutes and is fruit forward (berries and sour cherries...). In the mouth, very precise and well delineated, while velvety, the berry fruits dominate with a sour (but pleasant finish), oak and caramel notes are very subtle, slightly watery finish. Very elegant wine, but not much upside. drink up!
