  • Wow. Just wow. So this is what top end aged Aussie Chardonnay delivers after 18 years.

I have little to report on this rare wine. Except to say it's made by Bass Phillip, one of Australia's eminent wineries that produces arguably Australia's best Pinot Noir from Gippsland, South Victoria.

It's so fresh. Yet beautifully matured. Deep sunset gold. Slightly cloudy (showcasing the minimal intervention taken). Incredible nose that speaks so perfectly of that penetrating medium-bodied palate. As fig, lemon, lime, lanolin, sweet tobacco gum, slate and spice tantalise the senses. The mid palate charge and tingle belies its years. The finish sweet and smokey, with fine lime that simmers as your satisfaction endorphins kick in.

It's a great wine that reminds me of a fine Single Malt Whiskey. A one-for-the-ages Wozza 96/100 (4.4/5.0) from me.
