Very old vine blend of up to 30 different grape varieties; produced only in good vintages.
Producer tasting notes: "Colour: deep, impenetrable colour. Aroma: Very intense, complex and elegant aromatics. Aromas of tarry spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, dark chocolate and vanillin) and wild berry fruits. Palate: A beautifully balanced wine, the rich, full bodied palate has intense rich berries and spice flavours elegantly integrated with fine grained dusty tannins. Fantastic structure and great length suggest serious aging potential." - Quinta Do Crasto

It is exclusively sourced from Vinha Maria Teresa, a small plot of centenary vines that inspired its name and which is one of the oldest at Quinta do Crasto. This vineyard plot is located at extremely low altitudes and enjoys excellent sun exposure. Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa is a super premium, single vineyard, Douro DOC red wine that is only bottled in exceptional years and always in strictly limited numbers.

The grapes, coming from the vineyard plot Vinha Maria Teresa, are taken to the winery in 22 kg plastic boxes. On arrival in the winery they are rigorously inspected on a sorting table. The grapes are then completely destemmed and trodden in a traditional lagar (stone trough). Aer this, the grape juice is transferred to temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Once the alcoholic fermentation is completed, the juice is gently pressed.

In France; Bordeaux, Sauternes, Burgundy, the Loire and the Rhône Valley all enjoyed a legendary year, with a warm but not overly hot, extremely dry summer, which allowed the grapes to achieve great concentration, depth and complexity. Champagn...
