The Twelveth Annual Stonefields Dinner (Guelph, ON): Very heavily oxidative. Nose of bread crust, dried lemon peel, toasted mixed nuts, dirt, and old lacquered wood. Palate retains good acid on a reasonably long finish.

The Twelfth Annual Stonefields Dinner (Guelph, ON, Canada): Served at room temperature Quite dark colour The nose is very nutty with salted caramel, toffee, preserved lemon and earth. The palate is quite complex…showing hazelnuts, minerals, lemon, earth, salted carmel, saline notes, and a definite oxidative profile. The finish is really long…quite expansive.

5 Decades of Ch. Musar Blanc.... with Serge & Marc Hochar (Dining Room, Aberdeen Marina Club, Hong Kong): Tasted blind amongst 12 vintages. Tawnied and slightly dusky caramel deep gold colour…. looked the oldest of the 12 vintages (actually 2 others were older). Nose was firmly maderized, pongy in a semi-good way and smelt slightly off to me…. or needing another 12 hours’ decant from my previous experiences of old Musar. Oxidized and corked to my palate but others found something to savour here and I was in a minority of one in regarding it as flawed.

Chateau Musar Tasting with Serge Hochar at Hearth (Hearth NYC): Light brilliant gold in the glass. Nose of light apple-balsamic with hint of brown sugar, burnt toast. earth, savory nose!. In the mouth, rich, earthy, charming, fascinating. mushrooms and earth on the finish. Med body. Med acid. TOTALLY INTEGRATED. 92-4
