  Sammamish Port Club - Holiday Tasting (Sammamish, Washington): Very dark, red-purple in color. Cake batter on the nose with some tart and sour red fruit underneath. The buttery nose eventually evolved in the glass into slightly more red fruit notes. Noticeable but not overwhelming tannins riding a knife's edge of balance that are beautiful and carry from the entry to the end of the very long finish. Red fruits, cranberry, boysenberry, and light notes of dried herbs on the palate. Cranberry and good acidity on the long finish.

  Opened and decanted for 30 minutes. I always think that the sign of an excellent port is how quickly 6 guests can consume a whole bottle at the end of dinner. Tonight was no exception, this was very well received by all.
  
  Still perfectly fresh. Ripe fruit, plenty of sweetness as expected. Smooth, long. Delicious.

  Deep dark center, red rim with some pink, no real signs of age.
  Blackberries and blackcurrants, quite ripe.
  Sweet black fruit, ripe black plums, licorice, very good acidity and tannin, alcohol is present but not obtrusive, milk chocolate and ripe cherries on the long finish.
  Excellent vintage port that is still fairly young. Drinking well with some air, but really needs 5+ more years. Gould Campbell vintage ports were always underrated, a real shame they're not being made any longer.

  Not terribly refined or complex. This is straightforward and for the most, one dimensional. The tannins are receding and thus the balance is tending towards softer fruit, leaving the alcohol a touch out of balance. I would say drink up because I don't see the structure or balance getting any better.
