I hate to add a score to a wine that was obviously once wonderful. Wasn't on my Cellartracker list, so when I found it, I opened it immediately. Pop and pour, air in the glass, then trying to decant - all couldn't bring the fruit back. Earth elements fully intact, nose was wonderful and it was beautiful to look at. It wasn't a bad drink, but its core is gone. {{{sigh}}}

Minneapolis Wine Club Does Merlot (Gail's House): Very dark red color with some subtle bricking. Pop and pour, drank 1 glass over an hour. Nose was a mixed bag with damp earth, somewhat stewed fruit of a pruney nature, olive. The nose was better than the palate here with this coming off as thin with little fruit, alcohol showing through. Rustic. Clearly this was over the hill. 84pts or less. An interesting contrast to the 2002 which had a lot of life left.

Ok but not much fruit or interesting flavors. Good acid that pairs well with Italian dishes but not enough enjoyable to be worth it.

Minneapolis Wine Club California Merlot; 2/1/2012-2/2/2012: Past peak but I am glad we had this wine to compare against the superior 2002. Floral, raspberry and vegetal quality. Short finish and drink 5 years ago.
