  • My last bottle, and significantly better than the last one. I now wonder if that one was flawed, as this had great balance and length. The whole cluster winemaking and secondary development resulted in earthy notes but truly delicious.

  • This was delicious. I liked this a lot better than the Jessie from same vintage. Still drinking well. Thankfully missing the over powering vanilla in the finish that I couldn’t get past in the Jessie

  • cherry, dark berry liqueur, spice, wood?, citrus, characteristic of Cristom generally, but body uncharacteristically medium for this site, persistent acid grip that finished long. I guess the vintage? Clearly aged, not much freshness, tannins resolved, but certainly not dull. Hard to say where this is going. This bottle not past prime (IMO) as recent taster noted, but my more discerning wife said, “I can’t tell if this needs more time to open up or if it’s slightly corked.” Consumed over ~3 hours. Maybe neither.

  • Past it’s prime I’m afraid. Hot vintage, high alcohol, no longer in balance.

  • Decanted about an hour. Medium light color with a wide, clear rim. With a little coaxing the nose shows briary red fruit and high-toned sweet spices. On the palate the wine is fresh and gently sweet with ripe but vibrant red fruit and a nice soft viscosity. The tannins are present but well integrated and the finish is long and satisfying. I would drink this before the 2005 or 2008. Drink now through 2024. 93 pts.
