Mid-Aged Zinfandel and Cali Cab Dinner (Casa Garard - Northfield IL): From magnum. Dark color gave some concern, but no fear of oxidation. Tart and rip[e apple, some butterscotch notes, all with very good+ depth and certainly bright enough textures. Glad I also own a magnum of this.

Chez Garard older Zinfandels and Cali Cabs: Out of magnum, darker color, which was showing its age. On the palate, the wine had some zip, citrus, a bit of bread and yeast, and showing good age. A friend mentioned supper acidification year and tart. Mellowed quite nicely. Great way to start off the night.

Deep golden straw color Served at 58 F Notes of honey, tight minerals, white fruits, ripe honeydew, toffee and date. Comes across as almost a dessert wine with a slight carbonation. Remarkable addition to our dinner

Arguably sitting in a perfect point in its evolution, the 1988 SWC is a pleasure to drink. Full of pear, meyer lemon, and brioche with a touch of oxidative maturity. Fresh and expansive, yet mature at the same time. Excellent stuff. 95

(Pol Roger "Cuvee Winston Churchill") I have not had this bottling in a long time . . .maybe three years . . .and it showed brilliantly. Elegant would be the perfect word to describe this wine. It floated across your palate and deposits saline, apples and concentrated high-toned citrus fruits that seem to go all the way to the back of your throat. Really cuts deep. Gets very sappy with air but still retains its profound elegance. Haunting ethereal stuff and really has improved dramatically since I have had it last time. Still got loads of time before this is peaking.

(mag) I had my fingers crossed but this was everything I hoped. Rich, honied fruit tones but fresh, apple and brioche. Long, complex, refined. A-
