Dark garnet color, expressive, fruity nose. Complex and balanced on the palate, dry, but some sweetness on the mid-palate, lots of fruit, plenty of structure. Long finish. Paired wonderfully with bolognese pasta and a steak salad. This wine is evolving nicely.

At dinner, and followed an Orrin Swift Machete, which was huge. The 1885 was considerably more subtle, acidic, and more food friendly. I frankly liked it better, though that was not the prevailing sentiment at the table. Dark garnet, expressive nose, complex palate, long finish. Seems to have evolved a bit since the last bottle.

Similar notes to last tasting, but saved 1/2 bottle for 2nd/3rd night - really good by night 3!

Inky purple, nose of dark fruits, still a bit tannic but reasonably smooth and long, will benefit from time to develop.

Pretty medium red. Wood, strawberries, and spices red fruits on the nose. Very tasty strawberries with a pleasing structure. Really good.
