  • Might have waited too long on this. Upon opening, and for at least an hour+, funky barnyard nose that mostly blew off, but it remained a nose component all the way through. Definitely smelled aged. After 2 1/2 hours of decanting, showed a light-colored brunello, almost translucent, with a bit of amber around the edge. At this point, the nose was generally still restrained, mostly earth and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, nicely balanced but clearly past its peak. A bit tart, with nice acidity. Light-to-medium bodied, with a juicy finish. After 3 1/2 to 4 hours, the nose became quite a bit more expressive, with a tad more fruit but still leaning toward earthy and leather notes. At this point on the palate, more juicy berries and becoming slightly dusty at the end. Good, not great. I don't see it getting better.
