  • 2 hour decant allowed this smooth easy drinker to go great w/ thanksgiving dinner of bacon wrapped grilled prime filets( hand cut by me from huge loin) and grilled marinated shrimp

  • One of the best cabs I have had in a while. This bottle was firing on all cylinders after 15-30 minute decant. Wish I had more.

  • Consumed over a few days. Actually seemed to reverse age as the cigar box and forest floor abated the second day leaving more fruit on the palate.

  • My last experience with this wine was about 4 years ago. It was a dark, fruit forward, blackberry rich napa Cabernet made in the new Napa style at that time, and nothing has changed! Except, this one has done some growing up and integration. Cork was popped to a light purple stain. The nose was blackberry, black pepper, olive and herbs with a touch of balsamic. The entry is a little more red fruited than the nose would have suggested. Black cherry, blackberry streusel on the front, carrying to an herbal red fruit backbone in the middle which was predominantly black cherry, but with lesser notes of figs and red plums to give it a little personality and complexity. Finished with a healthy dose of black pepper and tannic grit. Dusty tannins cannot hide its origin as a Rutherford wine. Very good wine, and extremely different from the 2012 Stag's Leap AVA wine that was opened up alongside this wine. I think this one has another 10 to 15 years easy, and might even continue developing in complexity for most of that time.

  • Deliciously dark color appropriately signals this wine's richness. Scorched earth, black fruits over hints of blue, a touch of minerality. The oak is there but not overpoweringly so. Tannins are velvety.
