Deep purple color with no hint of fade or browning. Blackberry and heavy dark fruits on nose and palate. Did not choose to decant this and just let it unfold in the glass. Great wine, a bit to high of an ABV for me, but a superb bottle regardless.

Decanted for one hour. Nose of blackberry, black cherry, currant, dark chocolate, spice and forest floor. Blackberry, black cherry, dark chocolate, forest floor and spice on the palate. Very long, layered finish. Full bodied. Served with prime rib roast and horseradish cream sauce.

This is not my preferred style of wine. That said, for what it is, the ‘14 Dr. Crane Elysian is a modern Napa masterpiece! A dark purple core with no signs of age. An outgoing and exotic bouquet, with notes of cassis liqueur, blackberry, chocolate covered cherry, and baking spices. Full bodied, with a lush and velvety texture, layers of flavor, good grip and focus, and an incredibly long finish.
