This wine did not offer much. Rather stingy. A decent nose, with minor floral notes. Although the mouthfeel was pleasant, there just was not much there. Very little fruit, a hint of earth, and not much else. It felt hollow. My first and last Winderlea. Unimpressed.

Drank in a group tasting of of 2016 Pinot Noir grown on the Shea Vineyard. Wines tasted were Shea Wine Cellars Estate, Winderlea, Archery Summit, Ken Wright Cellars, and Bergstrom; all single vineyard from Sea. The best was Winderlea and Shea Estate was #2.

Year-in and year-out, one of my faves in the Winderlea line-up is the Shea. Medium purple to ruby in color. Drank over 2 hours, very approachable at the start, and just kept getting better. Cherry and strawberry with tasty Asian spice notes. Subtle notes of vanilla. Long and consistent finish.

Clear bright ruby. Inviting nose of black cherry tea. Medium palate of the same with subtle hints of vanilla and anise. Sounds more simple than it is. Low tannins that mildly assert towards the finish. That plus the medium acidity makes for an outstanding dinner wine that will support a wide range of light to medium-hearty fare. Drink now through 2026.
