  • Opaque violet with enticing black fruit, smoked meat, black pepper, damp earth, violet and an hints of olive tapenade, and sun dried tomato aromas. On the palate, it’s medium bodied with mouth watering acidity, well integrated velvety tannins and ripe blackberries, mulberry, black cherry, vanilla and a mix of savory herb and black pepper with a long peppery finish

  • Great Syrah from Bedrock. It’s drinking perfectly right now. PnP and first smell was dark fruit and tobacco and couldn’t stop smelling. Taste matched perfectly with some pepper on back end. Disappointed that I only recently found Bedrock in the last few years and wish I had more of these.

  • Served in a blind tasting alongside the 2012 Bedrock Alder Springs Syrah, this wine took the flight, and won the night. Where the Alder Springs was dark and brooding (and really no slouch) this North Coast Syrah had layers of aromas and flavors, from sun-drenched herbs, to floral, to leathery, to bright red fruit. It was the complete package. The structural balance on the palate was spot on for drinking right now or for holding a few more years. My preference would be now just because it was so “on” last night. Yet another time where a bargain wine from Bedrock wipes the floor with the competition.

  • Similar to other reviewers, in a nice spot. Time to drink up and enjoy.

  • 1 hour decant, 57 F. Full-bodied wine which has benefitted from a bit of age and started to develop savory notes. Deep ruby color. Subdued black fruit, vanilla notes and a touch of smoked meat on the nose. Well-integrated alcohol and acidity, initially velvety tannins evolved towards a more silky texture and a bit of grip with time and air. Bright slightly sweet dark fruits on the palate, with dried meat, black pepper, balsamic-glazed sun-dried tomato and olive notes. Lovely wine with a long finish. Have to think this is close to or at its peak.
