NobleRottersSydney - Reds; no Shiraz or Cab (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {screwcap, 18%,} (Gordon) From the old Classic Release program. This has way greater nasal concentration and intensity than you’d ascribe to a fortified of just 18% alcohol. The palate follows up with masses of burnt toffee, flavour heat, fruit cake and brandy. The caramelised richness isn’t too sweet though, there’s something still in reserve here. For all the medium/full-bodied weight and long finish, the ultimate level of complexity is just missing for me. Still, it’s very good, if heavier in style than the usual suspects from Rutherglen. I wonder what the grapes were?

Very nice consumed over a week or so. No drama. Perhaps a little too sweet and unidimensional for some, but fine for me.
