Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 88.4 points

  • C: dark, less clear than some, not muddy just dark
S: rich and fruity, dense, strong, deep, black cherry, hint of pepper
T: good fruit balanced by tannic bite and wood on finish, black cherry/raspberry, maybe even green pepper. Fruit is never just fruit, always balanced by oak heaviness.

  • I haven’t tried many Washington cabs, so I don’t have much basis for comparison. This one strikes me as similar in style to a Napa cab, with jammy, ripe fruit, but with little in the way of tannins to give it balance and complexity.

After making this my weeknight red for the past few weeks, I notice it drinks better the second day from a recorked and refrigerated bottle. When first opened, it tends to seem disjointed, with blueberry syrup-like fruit and high acidity that tastes unnatural. On the second day the fruit and acidity seem more integrated and harmonious. I’d suggest giving this a decant.

This was recently on sale at Costco for $16. It’s a decent buy at that price.

  • Dark ruby color. Nose has a long of vanilla in it, but also brooding jammy raspberry and blueberry. Drinks dense but commercial. Maybe hold a couple more years.

  • Deep, dark reddish-purple in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & spice notes, minerals, herbs, a slight hint of oak & vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of smooth textured & well balanced, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with some spices, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present & may develop slightly with aging, but perhaps best enjoyed primarily in its youth. A well made bottle of wine which delivers well at its price point; very good QPR when found a discount.
