  Drank the 1999 and 2000 side by side , garnet color , in the 99 the acidity is more unbalanced compared to the '00. Also the nose less ecpressive and on the palate the '00 was more fruity and complex, both had a quite long finish

  An impressive effort in a so-so vintage for Rioja. Intense and well balanced this is not an "in your face" modernist style of Rioja. It is well balanced with the brightness of the fruit to the fore. Tasted on the young side, this has plenty of stuffing. This will go on and improve for a few years yet. On this tasting I will seek out more Pagos Viejos.

  Mellow pepper and cherry flavours, pleasant, soft and balanced. I don't think it will improve with more aging but it will still drink nicely.
