Pop and Pour. High mineral content is really apparent on both the nose and palate. Obvious Sta. Rita - racey, boisterous, wild fruits, cured meats, definite spice. There is a trace of alcohol on the nose, less so on the palate. Disclaimer: I am very sensitive to alcohol. I am surprised how well this has held up through the years. still has life, but drink up in the next year or so.

Not sure what happened since the last bottle that I tried, but this was fantastic. Very similar wine to the 2007 Jaffurs that we poured prior, this was a classic Central Coast big syrah, with abundant blueberry, grilled meat, and blue/black fruits. Loved it.

When first opened, this was a fruity, full-bodied syrah that felt a bit tight. After around 30 minutes, it mellowed considerably to reveal almost a woody tartness with an exceptionally long finish that resembled unripened raspberry. Definitely a wine that works well when lingering on the tongue.

Interesting nose of dark fruit, perhaps overripe plum, but a bit medicinal which carried through to the palate. Very new world and complex, but not a hint of oak that I could detect. Not really a flavor profile that I enjoy, but perhaps this is too young. Fruit contained the alcohol well.
