German Riesling Seminar Series with Ewald Moseler (Spätlese) (Liner & Elsen): I could tell on the pour this was lighter bodied. In the glass it was very light color and almost watery in texture. The nose is very crisp, shows some saline water and green lettuce. Mild on the palate, with some spice, some slightly heavy (but not angular) acidity, which is very strange... light smoke present as well. Funky and strange finish, very very tart and bitter. Feels off balanced throughout.

Granny smith apples on the nose and palate in heaping amounts. Great body, sweetness with a medium length finish. Slight saltiness in the mid-palate and finish. A little boring. Pleasant.

VDP Rheingau Riesling Review 2009 (German House, London, U.K.): In contrast to the Erbacher Marcobrunn terroir this one exhibits a much stronger vibrant characteristic. The glittering minerals and the sweet parts of orange peel complement it each other superbly. Two football strikers scoring a goal after a well-rehearsed "Doppelpass" (give-and-go). Enjoyable and at the same time not "wine-intellectually" underwhelming. Such a great effort...a lot of hard work put into it by the makers to make winemaking look easy.

Good, clean, ripe nose. Good palate. Maybe a touch straightforward. But very drinkable.
