  • Rich bright ruby colour. Perfumed black plum aroma. On the palate sweet and dense, non-pinot, if you have tasted monkey coffee - kopi luwak, this is it. An ageless curiosity that will shit for decades.

  • Open 8 hours, in bottle with a cork in the top, listening to some house music: The fruit on the nose seems heavy and dark here with some wet soil and mushroom as well. The acidity rises up on the nose quite a bit. Nice feel on the palate with a good amount of acidity still and very firm tannins, drys the mouth out proper. Tending toward more dark fruits here as well with a some brightness, peppermint, wood and fungal notes as well. While the flavor doesn't stick around to long, tannins grip for a good 10 seconds after swallowed. Still showing some plummy notes on the palate like the previous taster described, and I agree I probably wouldn't peg this as Burgundy either.

  • Truly bizarre. Blinded Jon Marvin guessed Lagrein Riserva, then Italy, USA, and others without even hitting on Pinot Noir. Polished, showing neither the tannins that normally mark both this producer and this vintage, even to the point of sculpted; plummy notes in the vein of teroldego; modern in sensibility. Not a bad glass of wine, but hard to peg as Burgundy.

  • Garagiste Burgundy Tasting (Seattle WA): Wine tasting. Jammy nose. Concentration black cherry flavors to start, immediately followed by austere tannins. Good acidity and structure, even if not perfectly balanced today, I think this will drink nicely 2010 forward.

(Comte Armand Auxey-Duresses 1er) One-third from the climat of Les Duresses (lots of brown clay) and two-thirds from Les Bréterins at the beginning of the village and touching Le Val. Stony soil here with more marl and typically giving a little extra finesse. Good depth to the nose. The palate's profile is quite fresh with a good grab to the tannins. Perhaps the finish is a little short(?)
