Opened and decanted for two hours before tasting. There was a sour cherry taste that was not appealing but was not a flaw. Put the wine in the fridge overnight, brought up to about 65 F and tasted again. The night in the fridge turned this wine into an absolute joy to drink. Very good with chocolate, black fruits, cedar. Excellent.

Aromas and tastes of black cherry, blueberry, blackberries. Some mocha and vanilla also tasted. Still s bit tannic. Medium bodied. Drinking well now but has 10+ years of life left. Would buy again.

This would be a decent wine but for the ridiculous alcohol heat that dominates the nose, initial attack, mouth feel and finish. (Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln....) Austere, black fruit with chalky tannins. Seriously - the alcohol is ridiculous. If I had more of this I truly don’t know what I would do with it - can’t be served at a party, could be served in the dead of winter at a dinner party with people who don’t know much. But I would serve it as about the third or fourth wine of the night. UPDATE: Tasted on second night, chilled to about 50 degrees. Better - the alcohol is less prevalent. But, the wine remains stiff, without fruit and without charm.

Dark red, black core --- Nose blue and black fruit, some nutty aspects, elegant wood notes, some nice sour cherry --- Palate smooth, warm, nice fruit aspects, nice acidity, elegant, red and blue fruit, nice tartness, a little biz only a little heat --- Finishes on fruits aspects and pretty strong tartness. I had some Bordeaux `09s last weeks and was not overwhelmed, this one is an exception. Tasty and interesting. The underlying and shy beauty of red fruit and flowery aspects is captivating. This is hidden by a more masculine expression. All in all a really nice vine.
