Medium red color. Aromas of black cherries, violets and black pepper.. Medium-bodied fruit in the mouth with good depth and length and fully integrated tannins. Despite being from magnum, and not oxidized, but a bit thin and basic on the palate for a Lagier Meredith syrah.

This is deceptive. Upon opening, it’s pretty tight and a lot of gnarly, bramble, forest notes. After an hour more blackberry, smoked meats; and a little eucalyptus on the finish.

Wow, and phew. Such a different drinking experience than the previous bottle. This was back on form. Tight fruit core than opened up with air and in the glass. Very precise black currant and boysenberry core, not much in the way of secondary aromatics, these continue to impress upon me the need for patience and bottle age. Good showing, had opened with low expectations given the odd condition of the prior bottle.

Extracted, yet not syrupy. Acid plus, and lean. I gave the score to the structure of the wine; it lacks delicious factor.
