Blandy's masterclass with Chris Blandy (Chicago, IL): Bottled 2011. Very grassy nose, and some high-toned aromas as well. I expected a really taut and high-acid wine, but there is more sweetness on the palate than what I would have guessed from the nose. There is indeed that bracing acidity, but it is nicely balanced with all the other things here. A little thinner in texture on the palate than I like, but nevertheless a very serious wine.

Nose of mineral, orange peel and a bit toffee. Medium bodied, dryish, silky mouthfeel, delivering subtle flavors of orange peel, butterscotch, mineral and rancio notes. Wow, so smooth and balanced! Hedonistic stuff.

Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow" #014: Madeira (@ RW and by RW): In the bouquet oxidize impressions, sherry, tangerine, nuts, raisins and curry. On the palate currants, caramel , tangerine, orange peel , butterscotch. Full bodied, fine acidity and coffee. Extremely clean, well balanced and an enormous length.
