An absolute beast, but in a very enjoyable way. This was a brooding, powerful wine with lots of life left in it. Dark red and some black fruits, but great acidity and balance.

Tasted blind. Blackberry-driven nose; quite fruity, tight and minerally. A ton of structure here, the fruit stands up for it but the tannins are seriously powerful and the overall impression is of a young wine still. Needs at least five more years, potentially more.

Fully resolved by now, open and singing, definitely sill very much intact, good precision, ripe but firm sour cherries, leather, black olives. No presence of oak. On the outset deceptively simple texture but actually good grip, impeccably integrated tannins and fresh acidity. Just great now, shows how attractive appropriately aged non-oaky Aglianico can be.

Note: I use the recommended scale, so 85 represents a very good wine.
Consistent with my TN fron a year ago, I think this wine has come into its own, although it still needs some serious decanting time. In fact, it was better on Day 2 or more. As BoxerBee noted -- it improved even after 4 days.
