Purchased at auction PNP. Slightly browning at the rim. At first this drank a bit old but seemed to improve after 15 minutes in the glass. Dark fruits, herbs and a touch of oak on the nose. Medium plus body, lower acid wine with dark fruits, spice and herb notes. This was fully mature with some interesting secondary flavors coming out over time. 90 points

Dark reddish garnet in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty, floral & herbal notes, minerals, spices, anise, tobacco & a hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, plush & lush, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with earthiness, herbs, spices, minerals & oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but at 13 years of age, it is approaching its' peak of development although it should hold here for several more years.

(Woodward Canyon Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon Washington State) An aromatic wine with high toned herbal notes, abundant vanilla notes, dark fruit, and spice. The palate is loaded with dark fruit flavors and grainy tannins with abundant oak accents leading to a vanilla and spice filled finish. The oak is heavy here but the wine largely has the fruit intensity to match. 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Champoux, Woodward Canyon Estate, Sagemoor, Spring Creek, Charbonneau, DuBrul, and Weinbau vineyards. 15.8% alcohol. 2,421 cases produced.

Third bottle of this delicious WA cab. Rich and opulent. Concentrated and complex. Drinking at peak. Drink or hold.
