Very big and firm. Woody on the nose with a bit of perfume, cassis, and brooding black currant fruit. Some earthy tones managing to sneak though. Hot and structured on the palate, dense and dark. Delivers a syrupy core of blackberry and currant fruit. Not brutal, actually fairly enjoyable.

A great Italian evening in Belgium: Barnyard, dark berries and rustic flavors in the bouquet. Same on the palate, chocolate and mocha, good acidity and soft tannin. Beautiful and mature wine.

92 - really well executed bottle of wine, but QPR is suspect when there are so many great cab driven options out there

Académie des Cinquante 63rd Annual Dinner (Restaurant Olivijn, Haarlem, NL): Fresh and crisp structure, tight and youthful for age, develops notes of chocolate and balsamic, blackcurrants, firm but finely grained tannins, good length.

Italian night @ Stappato (Enoteca Stappato, Leuven (Belgium)): Very deep dark ruby colour. Lots of power and tannines, clearly a Cabernet-dominated wine. Masculine, sturdy, spice and cassic. Strong and convincing.
