  • Drinking really well now. Short decant. Fruit still good, tannins softened, and in a great place overall. We had next to 2007 and 2007 is tipping over now so I'd drink up if you've got 'em.

  • I had this wien in 2021 and even though the fruit was diminished it still was decent. This was not the case today. Cork broke about a quarter from bottom. Acid and astringent and no fruit. Some structure but overall unpleasant. A bit more fruit after about two hours. Either past prime or flawed or possible bad storage. An 86 rating for me, which I hate to give, but have to call it as I see them.Yes, had great expectations, but fell short. In fairness if this wine was flawed, then my rating should be ignored, but if not, then just not to level of this winery.

  • Well aged cab that has held up nicely. Cork stained light magenta, which somehow surprises me. Always expect these California cabs to be pitch black. Very flavorful, fruit emerged with time in the glass. Although fruit is present, this wine more about the structure. I know it is a 'second' wine of Bond but it's no slouch. Enjoyed each and ever sip and was sorry when I came to the last one. Coats the palate and tongue. Recommended and if you have any try now.

  • The Matriarch opened full of fruit, blackberry, plum, dark cherry and blueberry. Jammy sweet. No secondary layers. At 45 to 60 minutes, some earthy notes of dust and dried leaves began to emerge. So after an hour, a fairly balanced wine but still no structure as tannins were fully integrated. I would not think this should be too old and the fruit was plentiful so this may just have been bottle variation. Interesting and tasty but not what I expected this to be.
