color looks like a recent vintage, no bricking at all. This wine is in such a nice place. The fruit is lighter and sweet, really nice secondary notes and spice, there’s some tannin left on the finish. Always amazed by the long life of Monte Rosso.

In a good spot now, aired out for an hour or so, went down fast. berries, fruit, hnit of bramble, downed with Eggplant parm and after a Grenache "appetizer" I see no reason to wait any longer

Has evolved since we last tasted this. Drank over an hour and was initially tight but open up well within the hour. Still has time.
Since last opening a bottle in 2013, this wine still has an almost pinkish rim around a dark plum-colored wine. Heavy tearing with notable staining. Its intense on the nose with much more muted fruit than before: brambly blackberry, plum, and strawberry. Hints of almost jasmine flowers over much more pronounced mocha, forest floor, and pepper.
Dry. Dark fruit is much riper and more pronounced on the palate. Still with hints of flowers, bacon, earth, and pepper. Acid med+, tannin, high, alcohol high without being hot. Med complexity in a brambly, fruity wine balanced with bracing tannins and enough alcohol to match to robust flavors. Very enjoyable.

(Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard) Medium dark ruby color; intriguing, violets, black currant, stoney, briary nose; tasty, brambly, tart black currant, violets palate, very characterful; medium-plus finish (from a block planted in 1886)
