  • Purchased at the recommendation of the Safeway wine guy. He claimed this was a secondary label from Stag's Leap Winery produced specifically for Safeway stores - I couldn't find anything on the label to support that. It is just ok. I didn't like it at first but as it warmed up a bit, it got better. Nice vanilla-oak on the nose, a bit overly oaky flavors though some fruit shines through. Not much complexity but what can one expect from a chardonnay under $15....oh wait, the Wente Riva Ranch blows this one out of the water for only $13. Next time, we'll stick with that. But it is always good to try new wines. FWIW, if you needed a lower-end white for a party, hostess gift, wedding reception, etc., this would be fine.
