From 375 ml. Clear dark garnet color. Beautiful bright fresh bouquet of red and black fruit, incense, charcoal, crushed gravel, flowers, spice, sandalwood. Similar on the palate, balanced, seamless, generous, long finish. More like a Margaux-Napa hybrid than Graves. Seems at early maturity now, with several years of peak drinking ahead, and even longer for 750 ml.

This was a tale of two wines. On the pop and pour, this was fairly thin in appearance, aroma, and flavor. Tending toward the acidic side, it had only light fruit, and was very tight, with a relatively short finish. After two days in the bottle, though, the wine had darkened to almost opaque, with a purple-red tinge. The nose had deepened to show good cherry and cassis with considerable spiciness. The palate had also deepened to reveal full black fruits, and with a much fuller mouth feel and much richer texture. The acidity remained, of course, but unlike the first day, the spiciness was also apparent on the palate and was vibrant and interesting. The finish had lengthened to above average. My conclusion is that this is in a shut-down phase, and if you're going to drink it now, give it an extended decant. I'll bet this takes awhile to peak and will be a much better wine in two to four years lasting another five after that. This ended up being surprisingly good for a $20 bottle from Graves. I would have given this 84 or 85 on the pop and pour. The listed score is based on day three. Quite a nice wine in the end.

- Garnet color. It's balanced and has flavours of blackberry, black currant and chocolate with a medium body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - Nice wine nothing profound but very easy drinking don't see where this will improve significantly with aging.

No nose. Very flat and unfamiliar taste.

Even though this was 6 years old, I think it could have benefited from another year in the bottle. Tasted young. Not much depth and a little sour.
