  • It's been ten years since the last bottle of this, and time had not served it well. Good shape but uninspiring.

  • Tasted non-blind in a 7 person dinner tasting against: '11 Achával-Ferrer Malbec Finca Mirador, '09 Cheval des Andes, '05 Montes Purple Angel, '11 Fabre Montmayou Grand Vin, Vistalba, '08 Catena Zapata 'Catena Alta' Cabernet Sauvignon, '13 Chakana Estate Selection Malbec, Lujan de Cuyo and an '03 Clos Apalta. This along with the '11 showed well. Medium big-bodied with relatively fresh palate of red/black fruits, bramble and medium oak shadings and spice notes. The '03 & the '11 were initially very similar in flavor profile with the '03 showing less length after an hour but held up surprisingly well. Not a great value but tasty nonetheless.

  • 4th Saturday group "uptown" tasting (Our house): Opens with notes of tobacco and dark fruit. On the full side of medium-bodied with firm tannins and flavors of plum, black fruit, pepper, spice and oak- has definitely spent some time in oak. Finishes shorter than I would like and the woody qualities stand out a bit too much. Cab-like in some respects, but I'm not certain this is Cab. No guess.

  • Mmm....relaxing afternoon w/ Diana Krall and Achaval Ferrer Finca Mirador 2003. Hard to beat!
Just great @ 12 years old, guess that kills The thought that malbec is not for aging.
This is still very young, aging just fine, with all the powerfull, fruitful, complex fine sweet tanninn, has lost all green notes it had back in 09, its suntous like a caramel fills the mouth with inky grape, black fruit, earth, and a note of saddle & tar. I'll bet it will be amaizing 15 years from now, dont be afraid to keep them in the cellar for your retirement and have one one me & Diana Krall

  • This one Was not as powerfull as the one I Drank 2 years ago but still fresh, gorgeous, frutifull @ ripe, not a Huge nose or length, but strong in the attack, very sweet round pálate of ripe black fruit and some Green notes with mint and anís, tannins are silky and Well integrated. This is got plenty of life ahead, perhaps on the aged wine style will be a blockbuster sometime 10 or 15 years . Drank with a good arrachera and a morillas + fuet rissoto, with a fino reduction, cooked for the kids.
