Have tasted 04 09 and 15 recently as well as this delicious wine. I much prefer it once it’s had an hour out of the fridge as I get much more honeyed apricot on the nose, followed by super-long textured taste, lots of apricot, with fine, almost burnt kick at the end. Less complex than other Sauternes maybe but that clean clear taste goes on and on. Excellent. None of the vintages I’ve tried have varied over time as much as I feel I’ve seen for Rieussec or Suduiraut, less tropical / pineapple notes than other RL vintages I’ve tried, but such a deep, strong core taste. I marvel at other notes that are certain that this has 3 - 5 years in its prime, as it seems to me that this will be the most long-lived RL in my cellar! A Christmas treat indeed.

4000 bottles of Sauternes in the cellar, tasted hundreds of almost any grand cru from 1893 to 2011. besides the 1999 rieussec and 1989 Yquem: this is clearly one of my all time favorites with massive future potential up to another 40 plus years. Enough said?! (It’s a 96 plus!)

Served with a delicious apple tart dessert and whipped cream. Nice pair, though it could have perhaps used a little more air, as it seemed restrained in its flavors. pretty classic Sauternes with only medium acidity but plenty of honied, stone fruit flavors and aromas and a nice texture. I am guessing this could be better with some aeration/decanting and a little warming up closer to cool room temperature...90+

On this occasion, the wine seemed quite youthful, with a light to medium yellow colour and flavours of honey and lemon. Medium intensity. This should improve and develop more complexity with time.
From a half bottle.
