Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 85.6 points

  • Forest floor, black cherry, and cedar aromas followed by a variety of red fruit flavors and some earth notes. It was pretty good, but there was a vague harshness around the edges. The sensation was similar to looking at a great picture that was a bit out of focus. Still, a great QPR at $22.

  • I gave this an extra point because it improved in the freezer! We enjoed this in the winery, when it was you, sharp, and tannic. It was hiding some dark fruit. Opened it a year and a half later and found that it had rounded and softened. The fruit was there, decent red and black cherry on the nose, but none to exciting. I stuck the remaining half bottle in the freezer and thawed it yesterday. I don't know what happened, but it emerged better than before, more fruit on the palate and quite enjoyable with some Copper River salmon.

  • This wine is so much better than the current CT score (83) might lead you to believe. In reality, it is more like a solid 90-point Oregon Pinot with soft fruit, nice acidity, and fantastic aromas that jump out of the glass.

  • I liked it less the second go-around.... all raspberry and black tea that just grew more muddled as the wine opened up. Really tannic too so just ended up being dull and hot. This is DePonte other everyday wine so just bought a couple bottles to have around for that reason, but for my money their Clay Hill is a much better all around bottle at pretty much the same price point (might be a couple of bucks more).

  • Works fine for what it is, but even then still a bit tannic.
