  • Just tasted this, just bought this, just love this. It is so true to the region. I can taste the pays du France. The leaves burning , the wood burning stoves. Earthy, good balance, wish I had a cassoulet.

  • Popped and poured. Nose of sapling, black pepper, menthol, a touch of earth, and fresh but quite restrained blueish fruit. Juicy cool fruit on the palate along the lines of barely ripe blueberries, some black pepper, good acidity, good green bitterness. Refreshing bitter green sapling finish lasts for several seconds. Fairly light bodied, thirst quenching, quite enjoyable on its own but seems like it would be versatile with food too. Good honest $16 Bourgueil.

With air the fruit gets a bit riper and fuller, while staying cool and in tune with the greenness. The 2nd night, certainly fruitier and looser, almost like a strange new version of sangria with stems and orange peel floating in it. Think I preferred it the first night when it was more tense, but interesting transformation nonetheless.

  • This should have been right in my wheelhouse, but on the first day, the yuck factor is way too high. Cloved orange peel on the nose is pleasant enough, but the rest of the nose and the palate is green vegetables and thoroughly unpleasant. By day 3, this had gotten much better, so maybe this just needs a lot more time, but I don't think I'll be buying more.
