Leaf Day - Purchased in 2013 - cork sound with wine at the bottom of the neck. Decanted off a small amount of fine sediment. Some bottle funk on decanting. Now 1/2 hour after decanting - dark garnet core out to a light crimson edge. Nose now is dark fruit, damp earth, leather and some mushroom. On the palate it’s smooth and spicy with medium plus body and resolved but present tannins. Very floral with dark fruit on the palate along with new leather. Very supple on the tongue as the medium acidity balances the fruit and tannin. I’m very happy I waited till now - this needed time to resolve the tannins other tasters mentioned (years ago). Has a sort of Malbec character to it but has more red fruit showing than a Malbec would. Really enjoying this with grilled strip loin. Now an hour in - as it gets more air the red fruit shows more than the dark and it’s getting more elegant.

Pretty consistent w/ last note, but with some dried dark fruits coming through as well. Definitely seems on the downslope, so drink 'em if you got 'em.

Oak and fruit. I was reading about bonarda, primarily a mixing grape that enhances mid palate flavors. This wine does seems to open at mid palate.

Better wines out there for the price. Nothing special.

Really extreme pip tannins. Five glasses poured down the drain and we switched to something else.
