Finally then tannins have soften. I've tried the 2006 Arnaldo Caprai Outsider every two to three years. For the first 10 years of it's life, the tannins were way too harsh, more like a good sagrantino rather than the 50/50 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot found in the Outsider. Perhaps it's just the style of Caprai, known for their sagrantino.
Tonight, the wine is starting to blend together, still with cherries on the nose and fruit evident throughout. Full, but soften tannins. It's still best with red meat or stronger sauce. The finish is modest, but pleasing, lasting 15-20 seconds. Versus the pro reviews, I believe the Outsider 2006 is just entering it's drinking window, which should last for another 5 to 7 years, perhaps more.

Oops. Apparently I should read my previous note. Still enjoyable but quite tannic. No more bottles to hold.

No rush to drink my other bottle. Very young with bright primary fruit and loads of tannins. Hold!
